Tethered #73
Those are Red Admiral butterflies. Just in case you’re wondering. I love them, they are always on my buddleia in the late spring! I protect that buddleia…IT’S MY PRECIOUS!

I really like the colors, tones an values you used here. It gives a peaceful, relaxed feel especially when contrasted with the harsh, threatening colors of the urban scenes. Am I correct in assuming that you have a special love of the countryside over and above the needs of depicting the setting of the comic?
And is not any established pathway (like the rail) also a bit dangerous? Even if Ed doesn’t trip on a crosstie while watching the Red Admirals. π
That’s what I was thinking. A railway would be just as dangerous as a road. And tunnels like this would be great places to lay a booby-trap.
Also, I love how human and happy Ed looks. He’s more human than Cara in some ways.
Hahaha! Well the aren’t any tunnels apart form the one they just walked through from that point until they actually reach past Warminster π I have check! But as I said in my previous comment, it’s pretty tough finding any route that would be 100% safe, they just have to deal with each situation as they come to it!
Thanks duuuude!!! Yea, there’s plenty there with these two characters I have planned! Glad you’re enjoying it so far π
Thank you!!! (Sorry for the super late reply!)
I indeed love the countryside! I currently live out in the sticks, and would very much like to keep doing that for as long as I can π so it’s probably a massive influence on me in this comic (with what you see as well as what I have planned in future!) But in regards to setting, I have actually mapped out (literally, printed off a map and pinpointed their route) for the whole comic. Everything you see is from researching into this route and just putting down onto the page. Some of the pages I’ve even gone into google streetmap and found a location on the way that I like! I am trying to be as accurate as I can, though there will be certain situations where I will take a little creative license and create locations strictly for the comic’s story π
This railway does curve away from Warminster city, so it’s quite isolated π *did check before hand* Though there would have been a part where it slips back towards the town, Cara does have a slight attitude of ‘cross that bridge when we come to it’. I think no matter where you go it’s going to be pretty dangerous in situations like this! Especially us living on a small island, with not really that many places to hide…
